 Members History:

The owners and senior management, Colin, Donald and Barry all come from a career firmly implanted within the engineering and automotive industry.  Colin completed his electrical apprenticeship in the facilities division in General Motors and through this managed to achieve his national technical diploma in electrical and electronic engineering.  Colin took on a new challenge as welding engineer at Ford and soon became the supervisor responsible for process services.   Barry also comes from a career in General Motors following his qualifications as an electronic technician.  On Colin’s promotion at Ford, Barry joined Colin at Ford in the position of welding engineer.   During this period at Ford, Donald Batyi was Colin’s personal assistant in the facilities division.  This bond has matured since venturing into the private sector in 1985 and has blossomed to this present day.

Company History:

PT Projects is the engineering division of Platinum Pro (Pty) Ltd.  Started by partners Donald Batyi and Colin Muller, the two of them carry a history of 28 years together with their feet firmly planted in the automotive, electrical, material handling, robotic and automation industries.  Along with Barry Robertson, founder of the former AIMS group of companies, which quickly grew to be the largest automotive engineering company in the Southern Hemisphere and carry a bold history of successful turnkey projects on every continent.

After the successful sale of AIMS Corporation to Comau, a division of Fiat, Colin and Donald continued on other business ventures.  Donald headed one of the group companies Platinum Productions while Colin did private consulting including spending six months as the CEO for MC Design and Contracting Services, a company Colin played a big role in from its inception.  Barry, Donald and Colin have shared a long career as colleagues and Business Partners.  Barry joined the company as the Director of Operations

PT Projects prides itself in its skills in Project Management, understanding that a project must be based on a strong engineering solution, the management of the design and concept falls under the direct control of our Project Management.

PT Projects has strict outsourcing policy for the manufacturing phase of the operation, a part which allows us the opportunity of focusing on cost, quality and delivery.   PT Projects however, understanding the importance of successful installation, cover this phase of a project with our own Site Management teams.

Depending on the nature of the project, our project teams include  a Project Manager, Site Manager, labour of the required skills, as well as First Aid, Safety and Quality personnel as and when required by the project.

With our strong project management and outsourcing base, PT Projects main focus is in general structural, factory facilities, mechanical, electrical, welding, hoists and cranes and all associated plant services. The experience of the team will ensure a professional service, budget management and a true cost effective solution that can be delivered within the project parameters.  This is also a company which prides itself as a BBBEE compliant organization.  With this collective international automotive experience and a competent work force and supply base, PT Projects has already taken major strides into the future.

PT Projects was awarded a major tender in the Manganese terminal in the Port of Port Elizabeth Harbour to recondition the entire Tippler section of the ore plant.  The success of this project has seen that scope grow to taking full mechanical responsibility in restoring ship loaders, reclaimers and also being entrusted with substantial amounts of plant refurbishment and maintenance.  The dedication and professional management of the site team has also seen us being recognized as one of the best performing supplier for the last year.  PT Projects efforts have also just been rewarded with a project to re-do the Tippler plant in the Port of Richards Bay.

The company is also busy establishing a factory for peace keeping vehicles in Azerbaijan where our responsibilities include racking, warehousing, fixtures, water test facilities, paint shop, shot blast booth, gantries, walkways, water, air and electrical installations, cranes, hoists and the supply of all associated hand tools and safety apparel.
